Don Smith


Don Smith is a 20-year veteran Television Traffic Anchor who has Worked for News 12 New Jersey, News 12 Connecticut, News 12 Long Island, News 12 Traffic and Weather and NY 1. Don is a graduate of Seton Hall University in South Orange New Jersey. Don actually got his start in television doing sports in 1994 by volunteering for Suburban Cablevision’s TV-3 broadcasting play by play for High School Sports along with Anchoring Scoreboard which was a wrap up of the weeks High School Football Scores and Highlights.

At the same time Don also began his time with Cranford TV-35 learning all aspects of the TV business from doing Camera work to Editing to Producing to eventually going on air filing in as Host of “Total Sports” In 1995 Don was elevated to full-time host of the weekly look at what was going on with the Cranford High School Sports Teams. Don is still on the board of advisors for TV-35. In 2001 Don began his time with the News 12 networks until 2013. Then moved on to NY 1 in Manhattan until 2016 and Then came back to News 12 until 2021. Don just recently started “The Tri State Traffic Show” on YouTube which is a live 2 hour look at the Traffic and Transit Conditions for the morning commute from 7am-9am for NJ, NYC, Long Island, CT and the Hudson Valley.

Fun Fact-Before getting on television Don was actually working in a bakery for almost 20 years before going in front of the camera!

Don’s Hobbies include anything and everything automotive bringing his 2014 Cadillac ELR to local car shows and Don also is a photographer specializing in landscapes, nature and Astrophotography.
