3 dead, one child critical after shooting in Union County home

A shooting in Union County has left three people dead and a fourth person in critical condition. According to Linden Mayor Derek Armstead, police say a man shot his wife and their two children before turning the gun on himself.

 

According to Linden Police, the shooting happened inside their family home on Chatham Place in Linden. They say the parents and one child was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:30 a.m., police said. The other child was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Neighbors said the family has lived in the area for more than a decade. They said the husband was an electrician and the wife was a beautician.

Governor Phil Murphy posted a statement saying, “Linden is a strong community and we will support them however possible as they mourn and recover.”

Officials have not yet publicly identified any of the victims.
