The Chicago Bears traveled to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles for the third annual Black Friday game. The Bears coming into this game had a 31-28 victory against the Steelers at home. The Eagles were coming off a loss at home against the Cowboys where they blew a 21-point lead. Both teams are first place in their respective divisions in the NFC and this game had high implications in the NFC.
On the first drive of the game the Bears made it down to the Philly 25-yard line, but the Eagles defense came up big and got the 4th down stop. The Eagles would punt on their first drive of the game. Kyle Monangai ran for a 17-yard gain for the Bears to get the first down. D’andre Swift also had a big run gain as he ran for 23 yards. Caleb Williams would throw an eight-yard pass to Colston Loveland. On 3rd-and-2 D’andre Swift ran for a three yard touchdown. Cairo Santos made the field goal to give the Bears a 7-0 lead. At the start of the 2nd quarter. Hurts threw a 30-yard pass to Devonta Smith to get into Bears territory. Jake Elliott would make the field goal to cut the Chicago lead to 7-3. The Bears would make a field goal of their own as they would have a 10-3 lead. Both teams would punt towards the end of the quarter. The Bears led the Eagles 10-3 entering halftime.
In the third quarter both teams would punt their first two possessions. Jalen Hurts would try to throw a deep pass to A.J Brown but it was picked off by Kevin Byard III which was his sixth interception of the season. Caleb Williams would get sacked by Nolan Smith and the Bears would punt. Hurts would throw a 16-yard pass to A.J Brown for the first down. On 2nd-and-6 Jalen Hurts ran for 23 yards to get into Chicago territory. The Hurts-Brown connection would connect once again as Hurts threw a 33-yard bomb to A.J Brown in the endzone for the touchdown. Jake Elliott missed the extra point as the Bears lead was cut to one.
Caleb Williams would throw an interception to Jalyx Hunt as the intended receiver was Monangai. On 3rd-and-1 the Eagles did their known ‘tush push’ but Hurts would fumble and it was picked up by Nashon Wright. Kyle Monangai would have his prints this whole drive as he started off with a key 31-yard run. On 4th-and-5 Williams found Loveland for 7 yards to get the first down. In the beginning of the fourth quarter Monangai ran up the middle for a four-yard touchdown.
The Eagles would punt again as the Bears would score again. Caleb Williams found Cole Kemet for a 28-yard touchdown as Santos made the extra point for a 24-9 lead. The Eagles had a quick drive as Hurts would find Brown again in the endzone for the touchdown. Philly decided to go for the two-point conversion as Hurts threw a pass to Saquon Barkley but it was incomplete. The Eagles forced a turnover on downs against the Bears next Chicago possession. Philly would go quick again as Hurts fired a pass to Dallas Goedert for 22 yards. Jake Elliott would try a 52-yard field goal but would miss. The Bears took a knee and took down the Eagles 24-15.
The Bears rushing attack was key to this game as Kyle Monangai ran 22 times for 130 yards. D’andre Swift ran 18 times for 125 yards. It has been a great turn around for the Bears as last year around this time they fired their coach at the time, Matt Eberflus, and now will have at least a .500 record for the rest of the year. The Eagles offense struggles continue especially with Saquon Barkley. A.J Brown had arguably his best game of the season as he caught two touchdowns along with 132 yards. The Bears next play against their division rival Packers on the road December 7. The Eagles will travel across the country for Monday Night Football against the Chargers on December 8. The final score was 24-15 in favor of the Bears.
