Cedar Creek shut out Lower Cape May 42-0 on Thursday, October 9. Cedar Creek is now 6-1 and first in the Constitution WJFL Conference.
Statistically, both teams were decently matched, but Cedar Creek had what was needed to come out on top. The Pirates are stacked with an impressive roster, having many individuals with various abilities that work together extremely well.
One of the players that comes to mind is Senior Frenchmon Bethea. Betha has earned 898 passing yards across seven games, leaving him with another two games to potentially break 1,000. Similarly, within five games, Jahmir Campfield has earned 505 receiving yards, six receiving touchdowns, and 210 rushing yards.
Teammate Gyan King has earned 327 receiving yards and 22 tackles, and keep an eye out for Justus Peyton (67) and Jajuan McIntosh-Ward (54), who together have earned 121 tackles. Last, but not least, Aamir Dunbar has earned a whopping 1,178 rushing yards this season, which is only about a third of his four-season career total of 3,866. Not only that, but this season alone, he has earned 15 rushing touchdowns, 27 tackles, and 141 carries.
Going back to the game last Friday night, what was anticipated to be a tough matchup, turned into a shocking blowout. Earning six touchdowns and all six PATs, it came off as an easy victory for Cedar Creek. A breakdown of the scoring is one passing and one rushing touchdown from Bethea, three rushing by Dunbar, and the final one being a receiving TD by Campfield. Christopher Sandoval proceeded to score all PAT following each of these, earning the team a total of 42 points. The team also totaled 58 tackles, 276 rushing yards, and 125 passing as well as receiving yards.
Cedar Creek has two more regular-season games ahead of them, 2-5 Timber Creek on October 17 and 4-3 Ocean City on October 24. Can they go 8-1 this season? Will Timber Creek or Ocean City come in and upset the Pirates?
