The New Jersey Devils lost to the Seattle Kraken on the road Sunday afternoon. New Jersey lost 4-2, and the game was not promising for the Devils throughout the entire afternoon.
The Devils battled hard against Seattle but, in the end, suffered another loss. This game was full of scoring chances and penalties from both teams.
The Devils started hot in the first period. They were able to win face-offs on several occasions and get the puck to the right place. The Devils scored first, with Dougie Hamilton scoring, assisted by Jack Hughes and Connor Brown. The first goal of the game put the Devils on the map, looking like they were going to head for the win today.
In the first period, the Kraken spent more time taking penalties than actually getting shots in. It wasn’t until the second period that they had scored any points. The Devils were able to stay ahead for the time being. However, the Kraken had other plans for this team.
Ryker Evans was the one to tie things up in this game during the second period. Both teams continued to keep the puck at bay against one another for the rest of the period. Both goalies played well during the period and would not allow anything to get by them.
The third period of this game was when both teams raised their levels of intensity. The Devils were only able to get one more point up on the board. Hughes was the man who was able to make the second score of the game for the Devils.
The Kraken came back fighting hard and put three more goals on the board. Berkeley Catton was the first in the third period. He had assistance from Chandler Stevenson and Eeli Tolvanan. It wasn’t until the last 18 seconds that the Kraken scored another goal. The last shot was taken by Jordan Eberle, who scored using a wrist shot, leaving the Devils to end the evening with another loss.
The Devils will return to their home arena in Newark, New Jersey, for their next game on Tuesday, January 27, against the Winnipeg Jets.
