Another year, another new offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles.
This marks the seventh offensive coordinator the Eagles have had since they drafted Jalen Hurts in 2020. Previous offensive coordinator, Kevin Patullo, was fired after the offense was in disarray all season and wasn’t a fan favorite either.
Thursday, Philadelphia hired Sean Mannion who was the quarterbacks coach for the Green Bay Packers this season.
Mannion spent the past two seasons with the Packers as he was offensive assistant in 2024 and the QB Coach in 2025. He was also a third-round pick in 2015 where he played for the L.A. Rams, Super Bowl LX bound Seattle Seahawks and also played for the Minnesota Vikings as well in his career.
The move may seem like a questionable one since this will be Mannion’s first real opportunity with more responsibility on his side. Mannion has learned from some of the best coaching minds in the game in Sean McVay from his times with the Rams and both Klint Kubiak and Kevin Stefanski in Minnesota for the Vikings. As of recently he has been learning under Packers’ head coach Matt LaFleur the past two seasons.
The environment he will enter won’t be easy as Philly fans are extremely passionate. The Eagles have been successful for the past couple of seasons, reaching two Super Bowls and winning the Super Bowl last season.
Nick Sirianni, the Eagles’ head coach, talked about the hire saying, “It was quickly apparent in meeting with Sean that he is a bright young coach with a tremendous future ahead of him in this league. I was impressed by his systematic views on offensive football and his strategic approach. Sean’s 11 years in the NFL have provided him a great opportunity to learn from and grow alongside some of the best coaches in the game. As a result, he has a wealth of knowledge and experience that will be invaluable to our team moving forward. I can’t wait to see Sean with our team, and I want to welcome him and his wife, Megan, to the Eagles family.”
Philly hopes that this hire can last longer than a year and get their offense back to a championship level.
