Will the Cowboys continue their dominance over Big Blue?
After a horrendous season opener against Washington, the 0–1 Giants head to Dallas hoping Week 2 will be a get-right game. There’s just one problem: the Cowboys have owned this rivalry, (can we even call it that anymore) winning 15 of the last 16 matchups.
Despite completing under 50 percent of his passes in Week 1, Brian Daboll has committed to Russell Wilson as the Giants’ QB1 for Dallas. On the other side, Dak Prescott looked sharp against Philadelphia even in a loss and is historically lethal at home (43–18 overall with the Cowboys and 7-1 against the Giants).
New York does have a solid pass rush, but Dallas held up well against the Eagles’ tough defensive front last week. The bigger question is how the Cowboys adjust without Micah Parsons. His absence leaves Dallas vulnerable which is something the Giants will be eager to exploit.
Both teams enter Week 2 desperate to avoid the dreaded 0–2 hole. Since 1990, only 11.5 percent of teams that start 0–2 make the playoffs, and that number has dropped to just 9.5 percent over the last three seasons. In short: This is a must-win game for both sides. Already.
Final Prediction:
The Cowboys continue their dominance at home and crank up the heat on Brian Daboll’s coaching seat.
-
Cowboys win and cover (-5.5)
-
O/U 44.5 → Take the under (both teams hit it in Week 1)
Final Score: Cowboys 24, Giants 17
