From June 14 to July 13, nine FIFA Club World Cup matches will be played at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey and four of the 32 participating clubs will practice at facilities located on college/school campuses in the Garden State.
34 top-notch training sites in 14 states across the United States have been chosen as Team Base Camp Training Sites for the 32 qualified soccer teams that will be competing at the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.
Four teams will train at fields and facilities maintained by colleges or schools in New Jersey. These teams include Egyptian Premier League team, Al Ahly FC; Brazilian Serie A team, CR Flamengo; Portuguese Premier League team FC Porto; and Austrian Bundesliga team FC Red Bull Salzburg.
Al Ahly FC will train at the Pingry School in Basking Ridge.
CR Flamengo will train at Stockton University in Galloway.
FC Porto will train at Rutgers University in Piscataway.
FC Red Bull Salzburg will train at the Melanie Lane Training Ground in Whippany.
A total of 63 matches will be held at locations across the United States during the FIFA Club World Cup, including Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
MetLife Stadium will host a total of nine matches: five group stage matches from June 15-23, a quarter-final on July 5, the semi-final matches on July 8-9 and the final on July 13.
The five group stage matches to be held at MetLife are:
- Group A: Palmeiras vs FC Porto on June 15 at 6 pm
- Group F: Fluminense FC vs Borussia Dortmund on June 17 at 12 pm
- Group A: Palmeiras vs Al Ahly FC on June 19 at 12 pm
- Group F: Fluminense FC vs Ulsan HD on June 21 at 6 pm
- Group A: FC Porto vs Al Ahly FC on June 23 at 9 pm
The tournament kicks off with a match between Inter Miami CF and Al Ahly FC on June 14 at 8 p.m. at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.
The winning team stands to earn $125 million in prize money and will have a special ‘champions’ badge sewn into their jerseys which will remain until 2029.
