2026 NJSIAA Boys Lacrosse North Jersey, Group 1 First Round - Kinnelon vs. Boonton

The Kinnelon boys’ and girls’ lacrosse teams swept their 2026 NJSIAA North Jersey, Group 1 Tournament openers during a Thursday matinee.  The girls topped Lakeland 19-6, while the boys defeated Boonton 15-2.

The Kinnelon girls were led by Lauren Mortimer, who recorded her 100th career point during the Colts’ game against the Lancers.  She notched nine points on the afternoon with six goals and three assists.  Madison Gigante added to the Kinnelon offensive barrage against Lakeland, contributing an additional four goals and an assist.  Claire Fritz and Emilia Villegas also had multiple goals for the Colts.

Madison Mortimer made eight saves in goal for Kinnelon.

Myla Gottschall led the Lakeland offense.  She recorded a hat trick to go with an assist.  Julianna Demetriou, Amelia Diaz, and Christina Link also scored goals for the Lancers.

Rylee Thomas, who was peppered with shots all game, made 14 saves in goal for Lakeland.

The Kinnelon boys were led by Nicky Papendick and Gage Brancaleone, who had five and four points, respectively.  Papendick scored three goals and dished out two assists, while Brancaleone notched two goals and handed out two assists.  Joey Baitzel, Chase Brancaleone, and Peter Correia also scored multiple goals for the Colts.

Pat Dyszkiewicz made four saves in goal for Kinnelon to earn the win.

With their wins, the Kinnelon lacrosse teams will advance to the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA North Jersey, Group 1 Tournament.  The fifth-seeded girls will face fourth-seed Pequannock, while the sixth-seeded boys will match up against third-seed Jefferson on Monday.  Lakeland’s and Boonton’s seasons come to an end with their losses.  The Lancers finish their season with a 10-7 record, while the Bombers finish their season with an even 10-10 record.
