IMAGES: No. 14 Shabazz Blows By Waldwick in Group 1 Boys Basketball Semifinals

Strong defense and a balanced offensive attack led No. 14 Shabazz past Waldwick, 63-46, in the 2026 NJSIAA Group 1 Boys Basketball semifinals on March 11 at Franklin High School.

Christian Gray was a perfect eight for eight from the free-throw line and led four Bulldogs in double-figures scoring with 16 points.  Zaim Barnes, Anthony Blackmon, and Elijah Colon also contributed double-digit scoring performances for Shabazz.  Barnes and Colon each knocked down three three-pointers on their way to scoring 13 points apiece, while Blackmon contributed an additional 10 points.

Andrew Del Rey was the lone Warrior to score in double-figures and led all scorers with 24 points.  Arden Banelian contributed an additional eight points for Waldwick.

With the win, Shabazz advances to face the defending Group 1 state champions, Thrive Charter, in the Group 1 State Championship at Jersey Mike’s Arena on Sunday at 6:00 p.m.
