The Verona boys’ soccer team scored three goals in the first 10 minutes of their game against rival Cedar Grove and never looked back, resoundingly defeating the Panthers 6-0 on Oct. 5, 2026, in Verona.

The Hillbillies were led by two goals apiece from Kyle Moore, Luke O’Brien, and Matthew Schaller.  Schaller also added two assists to his tally for a six-point evening against Cedar Grove.  Declan Lambert also handed out two helpers for Verona.  Moore, O’Brien, and Declan Burke also recorded an assist each for the Hillbillies.

Teddy Handler and Henry Pepe split time in net for Verona but saw few shots on goal as the Hillbilly offense maintained possession for most of the game; however, Pepe was forced to make one save.

Unlike his Verona counterparts, Cedar Grove goalie Dominic San Giacomo was peppered with shots all evening, and while he did surrender six goals, he made 13 saves.

With the win, Verona remains undefeated so far in 2026, improving to 9-0, while with the loss, Cedar Grove falls to 2-10.  The Hillbillies will next travel to Basking Ridge on Wednesday to face Ridge, while the Panthers host Newark Collegiate the same day.
