At 11:05 a.m., an early game at Hinchliffe Stadium between the New Jersey Jackals and the Tri-City Valley Cats took place on August 27.
Both teams came into this game having faced each other the day prior, with the Valley Cats winning 8-5. The Jackals entered this game with a 27-60 record on the season, while the Valley Cats were 58-33. The Valley Cats are second in their division this season.
In the first two innings, the Valley Cats took a 2-0 lead as the Jackals continued to strike out, despite having good hits and sending them to the outfield. In the fourth inning, Ranko Stevanovic got a big hit, made it to second base, and advanced to home to make the score 4-0 after Ian Walters made it home. Luis Acevedo of the Jackals got a hit, but the Jackals had a quick three outs, and the score is now 4-0.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Jackals would get on the board. Luis Acevedo scored after hitting a single.
The game would start to get more interesting in the eighth inning. The score was 5-1 heading into the bottom of the eighth with the Valley Cats having the lead. After Luis Acevedo advanced to first, Isaac Bellony hit a home run to bring the score to 5-3. Arbert Cipion scored a run after Sebastian Mueller got a hit to run to first base. All of a sudden, the Jackals were in it with a score of 5-4.
In the ninth inning, the tide shifted back to Tri-City. David Glancy of the Valley Cats hit a home run. With the bases loaded, Ian Walters got a big hit as Josh Leslie and Oscar Campos scored to make it 8-4. In the Jackals’ final half inning, Patrick Sanchez and Luis Acevedo both made outs. Bellony struck out and the Valley Cats won 8-4.
It was a good showing for the Jackals as the Valley Cats are one of the best in the league. The Jackals face off against the Tri-City Valley Cats on August 28 for their final home game of the season and their final matchup against them of the season.
