Jets show no signs of life against Patriots in embarrassing loss

By Nikki Gist
It’s almost over, Jets fans. Not that things get any better next week when the Jets travel to Buffalo for the final game of the season, but at least there’s some light at the end of the tunnel. And hey—look on the bright side. You didn’t win a game you were supposed to lose… like the Giants.

No, instead, the Jets gave us more of the same. And so did the Patriots, for that matter.

Patriots quarterback Drake Maye kept the momentum rolling at MetLife Stadium, completing 19 of 21 passes for 256 yards and delivering a career-high five touchdowns against the Jets’ defense.

New England routed the Jets on Sunday afternoon, beating them handily 42–10 and clinching the AFC East for the first time since 2019. While Patriots fans celebrate, Jets fans have officially had enough. Gang Green Nation is calling for the firing of head coach Aaron Glenn and no one can really fault them for it.

What the Jets put on display today may have been one of the worst excuses for a “professional football team” anyone has ever seen.

No one likes the idea of a one-and-done head coach. But at what point does ownership step in and acknowledge that a coaching change might be necessary? The Jets have won just three games, and you could argue that those wins were largely thanks to special teams. The offense has been anemic, the quarterback play abysmal, and the defense is now one of the worst in the league.

To be fair, Glenn stated in his press conference that ownership is behind him, and it appears he’ll be sticking around for the 2026 season (for now). But all Glenn had to do to instill confidence in the locker room and the fanbase was to show some improvement week over week.

No one was asking or expecting the Jets to go on a late-season run. The bare minimum was to look like a better team than they were four, five, or six weeks ago. Instead, they’ve shown absolutely zero progress.

The mark of a good leader is their ability to elevate the people around them. Who on this roster has elevated their game this season? No one.

If showing even the slightest signs of life is too much to ask, that doesn’t inspire much hope for 2026. We’re one week away from Black Monday, and while most don’t anticipate a coaching change within the Jets organization, there’s one thing ownership truly hates: a fed-up fanbase that refuses to spend money on a bad product and an even worse experience.
