The Jets are going across the pond still without a win on the season. Can playing in a different country give them luck against the Denver Broncos?
Based on their current performance, it’s unlikely the Jets will secure their first win against a solid Denver team that just defeated the defending Super Bowl champions.
New York is a mess right now. They are playing undisciplined football, racking up numerous penalties. The new coaching staff has the same old problems for the Jets.
The Cowboys moved the ball all over New York; this defense can’t stop a nosebleed right now. There is currently no trust that the Jets’ defense can stop anyone; you have to go into every game assuming the opposing offense is going to have a field day.
Bo Nix hasn’t had the greatest year so far, but you’d have to imagine he will find a way to turn it on against this Jets team. There’s no other way to put it, this defense is just that bad.
Outside of Quinnen Williams, this defense has nothing else going for it. Even Sauce Gardner has had his struggles this year. This defense has created zero turnovers in the first five weeks of the season. They are the first team to ever do that. If you can’t create turnovers, and you can’t get stops. It’s never going to turn out well, and that has been the result for this team.
Offensively, when they have any bright spots or good drives, they usually shoot themselves in the foot with a turnover.
The passing game hasn’t been consistent; most of Justin Fields’ stats come in the fourth quarter when the team is already down multiple scores. The only bright spot is their running game, but even that hasn’t been enough to finish drives and score touchdowns.
Now, they have to go against a good defense in the Broncos. It will be tough sledding for New York’s offense. This might be the best defense they have faced so far, and even when facing weaker defenses, this team is still winless.
Now, because Denver beat the Eagles last week. That could have you thinking this could be a trap game for them and the Jets could pull off an upset. Anything is possible in the NFL, but as of right now, based on their last few performances, this New York team is so far away from winning a football game.
Their defense stinks, and they can’t create turnovers, and their offense isn’t good enough and turns the ball over. With that formula, you just aren’t going to win in this league.
The Broncos are a well-coached team that does its job and boasts a standout defense. The Jets will have their hands full in this one. It would be a huge upset if New York were to pull this one off.
But don’t expect them to play that way right now. The Jets shouldn’t be expected to win a game anytime soon. They are on track for a two or three-win season in Aaron Glenn’s first season as head coach.
