The Jersey Shore BlueClaws played a big game at their home stadium, Shore Town Ballpark, in Lakewood, New Jersey on Tuesday, May 20. This was only game one of a week-long series against the Brooklyn Cyclones. Jersey shore did fantastic and won this game with a final score of 6-4. There were several key moments and huge contributing factors in this game that got them their first win of this eight-game series.

The game started off pretty slow but in the bottom of the second inning, the scoring began. The first person to get a run across home plate was Jersey Shore’s Dylan Campbell who hit a homerun to left field. His fifth of the season so far.

In the fourth inning, the two teams were tied. It wasn’t until the fifth inning that things really changed. The Cyclones scored twice and managed to take the lead 3-1. They did not score again until the seventh inning.

As the doubts began to swirl for this team and they feared a loss, the BlueClaws managed to turn it around. Bryan Rincon hit a grand slam, which Jersey Shore had not seen since June of last year. The grand slam helped put them ahead at the score of 6-4. The BlueClaws made sure when they played the eighth inning that the Cyclones were held at bay and they did a great job of doing it. The BlueClaws outfield had to make several game-saving plays and this helped close out the game.

After this magnificent victory, the BlueClaws also celebrated their manager Greg Brodzinski. After winning this game, he now has the most wins in Blueclaws history. The BlueClaws really did have a fantastic night in all aspects. They will return to continue their series on Thursday May 22, followed up with several more games throughout the weekend against the Cyclones. This team just needs to keep it up and they may be able to have one of their best seasons yet.
