New York Giants fans, the season is almost here! Starting off with the Giants first of three preseason games, this Saturday the team will play against the Minnesota Vikings at home.
As training camp has been in session the past couple of weeks and with preseason games approaching, the NFL regular season is near for the New York Giants.
The Giants start off their regular season playing on Sunday Night Football against their in division rival Dallas Cowboys at home. All eyes will be on these two teams as the whole world will be watching the first Sunday Night Football Game.
There will be a lot of story lines and headlines for both of these teams. From the start of the John Harbaugh coaching era to Quarterback Jaxson Dart’s second year underway and the team looking to change the trajectory of the Giants with a winning culture as their last winning season was in 2022. On the other side, America’s team Dallas Cowboys, will look to bounce back after missing the playoffs for the past two seasons. With their revamped defense, and another year of one of the best offenses in the NFL along head coach Brian Schottenheimer, the team looks to start off Week 1 strong.
Over the past couple of seasons, the Cowboys have gotten the better of the Giants with winning nine consecutive games before New York won the last game of the 2025 regular season last year. However, the Cowboys chose to bench their starters for the second half as their season was relatively over. The Giants will then play their second in division game against Dallas, the second to last game of the regular season in January.
The other in division rivals in the NFC East for the Giants is playing two games each against the Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles. New York will play against the Commanders in Week five on the road and Week nine at home for Thursday Night Football. The last two seasons, the Commanders have also gotten the better of the Giants with wining both regular season games in 2024 and 2025. The Giants play against the Eagles on the road in Week eight and Week 17 which is the last game of the regular season. Last season, New York upset the Eagles early in the regular season in one of Jaxson Dart’s first career starts. The Giants won the first regular season game and lost the second game to Philly.
The Giants look to improve and be more dominant against these two teams as the Commanders underperformed last season and the Eagles coming off a early playoff lost against the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card after winning the Super Bowl in 2025. The odds have the Giants finishing in last place in the division as they been last for two consecutive years.
In the Giants schedule, the team has a lot of former Giants they will be up against for this upcoming season. In Week three, former head coach Brian Daboll will return to New York as he’s the Tennessee Titans new offensive coordinator. In Daboll’s four years as head coach, he had one winning season which was his first year in New York. In 2022, the Giants record was 9-7-1 with making the playoffs and winning the Wild Card game before losing to the Eagles in the Divisional Round. Daboll won NFL Coach of the Year as well in the 2022 season. Eagles Running Back Saquon Barkley will also return to New York to play the Giants in the last game of the regular season and play against the Giants in Week eight.
New York will face two more former Giants despite not being at home. On the road in Week 11, former Giants Quarterback Daniel Jones will be playing against his old team for the first time in his career. Jones spent the first six seasons of his career in New York from 2019 to 2024 as he was the sixth pick in the 2019 NFL Draft where he had his ups and down in his career. Since leaving the Giants, the second year Indianapolis Quarterback has found a home with the Colts. Before Jones’ achilles tear took out his season last year, he led the Colts to being one of the best offenses and teams in the NFL in the first 10 weeks. In Week 15, the Giants traveled to Detroit to play the Lions and face former Offensive Coordinator Mike Kafka on Monday Night Football. Kafka is now the new Lions passing game coordinator.
The Giants will be playing against six playoff teams this upcoming season as well. The Giants will play against the Seattle Seahawks, Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Philadelphia Eagles. New York will be playing three games at home against the the Jaguars in Week 10, the 49ers in Week 12 and the Eagles in Week 17. New York will have their hands full playing three road games against some of the best teams in the NFL (Seahawks, LA Rams, and Texans) as the Giants look to have a winning season.
