After another disappointing season with being the second worst team in the NFL, the New York Jets look forward to a new season ahead of them.
The Jets start off their first preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home this Friday. With the regular season around the corner, the Jets look to get ready to go on the road to play the Tennessee Titans in Week one and face off against former Jets head coach Robert Saleh. As the two worst teams in the NFL face off, look for Saleh to seek revenge against the Jets and have his team ready to go. The Titans will look to win there first game at home under there first year new tenure coach, Robert Saleh.
Last season a lot of things went wrong for the Jets. They were on the wrong side of history with becoming the first team ever to finish the regular season without recording an single interception. Their last interception was back in January 2025 against the Miami Dolphins. All things went wrong under first year head coach Aaron Glenn, who was previously the defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions. After the Jets traded for Quarterback Geno Smith from the Las Vegas Raiders, Smith will now be the new starting QB as the Jets try to find someone at the position with change year in and out.
In the AFC East, the Jets face their in division rivals New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills, and Miami Dolphins all two times each. In Week six, the Jets will travel to New England to play the Patriots and in Week 15, face the Patriots at home. The Patriots are coming off a Super Bowl appearance despite losing to the Seattle Seahawks. New England looks to have another dominant season as they are back in the era of contending for Super Bowls. The Jets play against another Super Bowl contending team when they go up against the Bills Week 10 at home and Week 17 on the road. Since 2023, the Bills have dominated the Jets when they go head to head with winning the last five matchups. In Week seven at home and Week 12 on the road, the Jets will play the Miami Dolphins.
Going into this upcoming regular season the Dolphins will look extremely different. After two disappointing seasons in 2024 and 2025, this past offseason the team fired head coach Mike McDaniel and released starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Along with key departures of Tyreek Hill, Jayden Waddle, and Bradley Chubb. The Dolphins later hired Jeff Hafley as their new head coach and signed Quarterback Malik Willis to a three year deal with both coming from the Green Bay Packers. With a new revamped team over in Miami, look for the Jets to try to steal both games from the Dolphins this year as they fight with the heavy top favorites in the division with New England and Buffalo.
Besides playing both the Pats and the Bills, the Jets will face off four more playoff teams. The team will play against the Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, and Los Angeles Chargers. The two games at home will be against the Packers in Week two and Broncos in Week 13. The two road games will be Week four in Chicago and Week 11 in LA.
In the team’s schedule, this season the Jets will also play several games against some of the worst teams from last season. In Week five, the Jets will play against the Cleveland Browns and the Raiders Week eight at home. In Week 15, the Jets will travel to Arizona to play against the Arizona Cardinals.
In the Jets remaining schedule, they play some playoff quality teams that didn’t make the playoffs last season. In Week three, the Jets play on the road against the Detroit Lions who had a disappointing season last year but are still one of the more talented teams in the NFL. In Week nine, the Jets play against the Chiefs in Kansas City and Week 16 against the Minnesota Vikings at home. The Chiefs last season were another team who had a down year but look to come back with vengeance as the teams hopes for a healthy Patrick Mahomes coming off a torn ACL and LCL.
The Jets’ last winning season was in 2015 and they last made the playoffs in 2010. The Jets hold the longest active playoff drought across all four major professional sports leagues in the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL. The team has some promise with star offensive players Wide-Receiver Garrett Wilson and Running Back Breece Hall leading the charge.
