The Jets fell to 3-11, and a Superfan gives up.
The Jets made headlines earlier this week when longtime superfan “Captain Jet” Ray Hoffman announced he would not be renewing his season tickets for the 2026 season. The move divided the fanbase. Diehards argued that Hoffman should stick with the team no matter how bad things get, while others applauded his decision and stood in frustrated solidarity with him.
On Sunday, the Jets made news once again, but this time for all the wrong reasons.
The red-hot Jacksonville Jaguars routed Gang Green in a 48–20 loss, as the Jets’ defense struggled mightily to contain quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence carved up the defense, throwing for 330 yards and five touchdowns and ran one in for good measure.
After the game, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said he was disappointed on multiple levels with the outcome but emphasized that his focus is now on preparing the team for the final three games of the season.
Due to injuries to both Tyrod Taylor and Justin Fields, undrafted free agent quarterback Brady Cook out of Missouri got the start for the Jets. Cook showed flashes of efficiency early, going a perfect 6-for-6 for 51 yards and a touchdown in the first half.
It may be worth giving Cook the reins for the remainder of the season to see what the Jets truly have in the young quarterback.
Frankly, the Jets need to take a long, hard look in the mirror and not just at the quarterback position. Something isn’t working inside that building, and it hasn’t been working for quite some time.
According to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic, several defensive players declined to speak with the media following the loss. Jermaine Johnson and Quincy Williams reportedly told Rosenblatt, “I have nothing positive to say today, so I’m not doing media.”
And honestly?
He doesn’t have to because that answer says everything.
Up next, Gang Green heads to the Superdome next week to take on the New Orleans Saints.
