Atlantic City Electric Workers on Strike
Atlantic City Electric workers have gone on strike. Their contracts expired and after months of negotiations without reaching an agreement, they have gone on strike as of Sunday.  Atlantic City Electric has said, “Our employees are compensated fairly. The offer presented included a five-year deal with incremental increases totaling 16-20 percent by the end of the contract term and numerous other benefits. Currently, the average Atlantic City Electric line person earns $177,326 annually, which includes overtime.” Workers do not agree and say this is not competitive pay, along with experiencing poor working conditions and a decrease in benefits.
Netflix CEO & Murphy Tout Netflix Facility
Governor Murphy and Netflix announced plans to develop a state-of-the-art production facility at the old Fort Monmouth U.S. Army base over the next few years. The first phase will include the construction of 12 state-of-the-art soundstages and studio backlots. Governor Murphy says the $848 million build will give New Jersey residents a chance to work in the film and television industry. Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos said, “Netflix Studios Fort Monmouth will drive significant economic growth and create meaningful job opportunities for people in New Jersey.”
Skydiver Airlifted
A skydiver who departed from Sussex County Airport was airlifted to a local hospital on Sunday after complications caused the diver to land in a swampy wooded area. Local police responded to the scene and tended to the person with injuries. No further details have been reported.
