Giants Lose the Heart of Their Team in Cam Skattebo as They Fall to Philly
All week, former and current Giants and Eagles players (and their fans) were warning Jaxson Dart about his first start at Lincoln Financial Field and what to expect, considering it’s typically a hostile environment at the Linc. Dart told the media he was excited for the challenge, but nothing could’ve prepared him, or this team, for what was coming.
Rookie running back Cam Skattebo who is the heartbeat of this Giants squad suffered a devastating dislocated ankle injury in the first half. As he went down, so did the morale of the entire team. Despite the shock, Big Blue tried to rally before halftime, but gave up a touchdown to Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert and never quite recovered from there.
Philadelphia controlled the tempo from the opening drive to the final whistle, and while the Giants had their chances, the same old story played out: too many injuries, not enough depth, and a defense that can not keep opponents under 30 points.
A Decade of Déjà Vu
As the great Bill Parcells once said: “You are what your record says you are.” And right now, the Giants are exactly that. A 2–6 team stuck in yet another losing season under Brian Daboll.
Outside of Daboll’s first year when the Giants overachieved their way into the playoffs it’s been three straight seasons of inconsistency, frustration, and subpar football.

It’s almost as if it doesn’t matter who’s wearing the headset because for nearly a decade, the Giants have found ways to bury their season before Halloween even arrives.
Culture Starts at the Top
At some point, ownership has to hold the coaching staff and front office accountable for the poor product they keep parading out onto the field week after week. Year after year. The Giants continue to lack discipline, consistency, and leadership but until that changes, nothing else will.
With Jaxson Dart showing flashes of being the guy and potentially the next franchise quarterback, the pressure is now on the organization to build the right system and culture around him.
