As the Philadelphia Eagles look for a bounce back season after a disappointing year last season, the team will play it’s first preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens this Saturday on the road.
The Eagles start off their first regular season game playing against their in division rival Washington Commanders at home to start the year. Despite Philly winning the NFC East this past season and having a 11-6 record, all year long the team looked like shells of themselves. Everyone didn’t look like they were all on the same page and in the playoffs, the Eagles lost to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Wild Card game at home. The offense did not look like the same offense that came off winning a Super Bowl the previous year. The Eagles didn’t get that same production from Quarterback Jalen Hurts to Running Back Saquon Barkley to ex-Star Receiver A.J. Brown. This past offseason, the team departed from Brown as he was sent to the New England Patriots and also moved off from Offensive Coordinator Kevin Patullo.
Philadelphia later hired Sean Mannion, to be the new Offensive Coordinator for the Eagles. Philly is currently on their fifth different Offensive Coordinator in the last five seasons. The Eagles and the offense deal with another year of change but look to turn over to a new lead that they are hopeful of. For Week one against the Commanders, the Eagles look to start off their season great. In the past few years in the regular season, both teams have gone back and forth head to head with Philly winning most of the matchups. In their second game, the Eagles played the Commanders in Week 8 on Sunday Night Football to start off the month of November.
In the Eagles schedule, they play against eight playoff teams from last season. The team plays against the Seattle Seahawks, Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, Chicago Bears, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Carolina Panthers. In five of the eight games, Philly will have the advantage of playing at home while they will be on the road Week three in Chicago, Week five in Jacksonville, and Week 16 in San Francisco.
The Eagles also play a few games this season against some of the worst teams in the NFL from this past season like the Tennessee Titans in Week two, Arizona Cardinals in Week 12 and their in division rival New York Giants in Week nine and Week 17. Despite being some of the worst teams in the league a year ago, all three teams look for a year of improvement heading into the 2026 season.
Philadelphia also have their hands full with playing against playoff quality teams that didn’t qualify last season. Like playing their in-division rival Dallas Cowboys Week seven on Monday Night Football and Week 11 on Thanksgiving Day. In Week 13, the Eagles will play against the Indianapolis Colts who were one of the best teams in the whole NFL the first 10 weeks before the injury bug derailed their season last year.
In the city of Philadelphia, the goal for the team has always been Super Bowl or Bust. The Eagles have been to the Super Bowl two of the last four seasons and have been the NFC East Champions for two consecutive years. The team will look to dominate their division for a third straight year in the NFC East. Heading into the year, the Eagles enter another season having one of the best defenses in the NFL as the team look for the offense to bounce back to be a complete team this season. Despite losing A.J. Brown this offseason, Philly still has there talented core of Hurts, Barkley, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, and other new additions. Along with the guys upfront with still having one of the best offensive lines in the NFL with Jordan Mailata, Lane Johnson, Landon Dickerson, Tyler Steen, and Cam Jurgens.
How far do you see the Philadelphia Eagles going this season? Will they bounce back after last season collapse or will the Eagles take a step back?
