No. 5 Roselle Catholic hosted No. 10 Rutgers Prep as both of these two teams are ranked top 10 on NJ.com.
Rutgers Prep entering this game had a five-game winning streak and won their last game 93-87 on the road against Immaculata. Roselle Catholic entered this game having a two-point win against Union Catholic on the road 71-69.
The Lions started the first quarter by jumping out to an early 19-4 lead. In the second quarter it wouldn’t be much better for Rutgers Prep as they got outscored 27-15. At the end of the second quarter Roselle Catholic had a 46-19 lead. In the third quarter Rutgers Prep would have their best moments of the game up to this point outscoring the Lions 24-8. In the fourth quarter the roles would reverse as Roselle Catholic outscored Rutgers Prep 20-9. Roselle Catholic would win 74-52.
Despite the loss, Bryce Williams had 18 points, three rebounds, two assists, and three steals. He also had three 3’s. Nicolas Nsenkyrie had 10 points and six rebounds as well. Rutgers Prep will next play this Tuesday January 27 against Franklin at home at 7 pm. Roselle Catholic will play against Westfield this Tuesday January 27 on the road at 4 pm. The final score was 74-52 in favor of Roselle Catholic.
