The Philadelphia Eagles visited the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium this past Thursday. The Eagles coming into this game blew a fourth quarter lead to the Broncos at home and lost 21-17. The Giants traveled to New Orleans to play the Saints and lost 26-14 on the road. For this Thursday Night Football game it turned out to be electric.
The first quarter would be a high scoring quarter as the Eagles got on the board first with a field goal kick made by (K) Jake Elliot. The Giants are up next as a few plays in (QB) Jaxson Dart found (WR) ‘Lil’ Jordan Humphrey for a 34 yard gain. On third-and-8, Dart scrabbled and ran up the middle into the endzone for the touchdown. The Eagles would have a quick three-and-out on their next possession. Dart found (WR) Wandale Robinson for 26 yards up the sideline for a big gain. The two would later connect again as Robinson escaped the defense and ran into the endzone for the touchdown to give the Giants a 13-3 lead. (K) Jude McAtamney missed the extra point. (QB) Jalen Hurts would orchestrate the next drive as he found (WR) A.J Brown for a 30 yard catch. Later, in the endzone he found (TE) Dallas Goedert for the touchdown, as the two connected once again.
In the second quarter, the Eagles ran 4 straight tush pushes that resulted in a Jalen Hurts touchdown. This had a lot of controversy all over the NFL World especially from Micah Parsons who tweeted out “This is not football!” along with two trash emojis. The Giants would initiate a drive led by Dart and (RB) Cam Skattebo which resulted in a four yard touchdown. Philly wouldn’t respond as the Giants were up 20-17 at halftime.
In the second half, It would be all New York as the second half domination would start. Both teams would punt in their possessions of the third quarter. The Giants orchestrated a nine play, 65 yard drive that was capped off with another Cam Skattebo rushing touchdown. Philadelphia and the Giants both punted towards the end of the third quarter. At the end the Giants led 27-17. At the start of the fourth quarter, both teams punted after quick three-and-outs. The Eagles got the ball back as Hurts threw it too to (WR) Devonta Smith for 16 yards. The giants got a 25-yard penalty as the Eagles moved into Giants territory. Hurts would throw a pass short left intended for (WR) Jahan Dotson but it was picked off by (CB) Cor’Dale Flott. New York would capitalize as Skattebo once again scored a touchdown as the Giants blew the game open. The Eagles would fumble as (CB) Dru Philips recovered it. The Giants held on to win 34-17.
The Eagles got outscored 14-0 in the second half. In the second consecutive game the offense struggled late. (RB) Saquon had less than 12 rushing attempts. When Saquon has less than 12 rushing attempts the Eagles have never won. The Giants get a big win at home as Jaxson Dart is 2-0 at home.
