VIDEO: PEQUANNOCK TOWNSHIP POLICE RESCUE 2 PEOPLE FROM SINKING CAR

Two people were rescued from a car that drove into a retention pond at Cedar Crest Village in Morris County.

According to the department’s Facebook post, Sgt. Dericks, Ptl. Parigi and Ptl. Knatz arrived on scene and were able to remove the passenger and driver to safety as the murky water was filling the vehicle.

Body camera video from one of the officers shows him running up to the scene, stripping off his holster, and jumping into the water.

Video from bystanders also showed the group of officers, Cedar Crest Security, members of the Pequannock First Aid Squad and  the Fire Department pulling the two vehicle occupants out of the submerged car.

“Surprisingly, the Body Worn Camera was in good shape after being submerged in the water but the same can’t be said for the officers’ boots!” the post from the Police Department said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation and it is unclear if the two vehicle occupants sustained any injuries.
