The Sussex County Miners held their third annual charity softball event – Battle of the Badges III – a matchup between Pennsylvania State Police and New Jersey State Police. This year, the game benefitted the family of Shannon Thonus, a local dispatcher who recently lost her life to Stage 4 cancer at just 31 years old. Detective Miguel Hidalgo, who played for the Jersey side, talks about the importance of community events like this.
