CANADIAN WILDFIRES LEAD TO AIR QUALITY ALERT IN NEW JERSEY

Smoke from wildfires in the Quebec province has been drifting across the region, adding to hazy conditions and an Air Quality Alert for the Garden State.

According to Quebec’s wildfire prevention agency, SOPFEU, more than 160 fires have been reported in Quebec including at least 114 that are out of control.

The National Weather Service has also issued a red flag warning, indicating an increased fire danger, for all 21 counties from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Forecasters are expecting winds of 10 to 15 mph with gust up to 25 mph.

The EPA warns people who are unusually sensitive to ozone or particle pollution may experience respiratory symptoms.
