As the FIFA World Cup brings massive crowds, watch parties, and international attention to cities across the country, there’s another side of these celebrations people don’t always think about… what happens to public spaces after the crowds leave? Parks, waterfronts, and downtown gathering spots can quickly become overwhelmed with litter and waste, creating a major challenge for local communities. A New Jersey nonprofit called EcoClean Guardians is tackling that issue head-on by training and paying local residents, known as Eco Earners, to help clean, restore, and protect public spaces before and after major events. Joining us this morning is Carolyn Fenley, Founder and CEO of EcoClean Guardians.
