The Bloomfield Fire Department’s Girls on Fire youth camp is now in its fourth year and has grown from a two-day program into a five-day immersive experience, with 60 girls participating this year. Through hands-on activities like firefighting drills, rescue simulations, and team challenges, the program is building confidence while introducing girls to careers in public safety. Joining the show to talk about the importance of representation and mentorship are Bloomfield Mayor Jenny Mundell, the first woman to serve as the township’s mayor, and Bloomfield firefighter Claudia Astudillo, one of the first women to serve in the department.
