One of the pilots killed in a plane crash near Haiti earlier this month has been identified as Patrick Decker, former chief of the Sparta Township Fire Department. Decker had worked with the agency for nearly 50 years.

Construction for the Gateway Tunnel Project will resume, after the Trump Administration released the remaining federal funding. The project currently employs 1,000 workers; it’s expected to generate 100,000 regional jobs and $20 billion in economic activity.

Local officials were at Union County Vocational-Technical High School in Scotch Plains, for the ribbon-cutting of the new Academy for Global Logistics. The program gives students hands-on, real-world experience in supply chain management.
