A winning, “Win for Life” scratch-off ticket sold at the 502 Grocery & Deli on Ocean Avenue in Jersey City. The person can either take a lump sum of more than $1.7 million or take $10,000 a month for 25 years, for a total of $3 million.

Monmouth County Clerk Christine Hanlon was elected chair of the New Jersey Republican Party. Hanlon will replace Glenn Paulsen, who stepped down after Jack Ciattarelli lost the race for governor.

Congratulations to Police Officer Frank Dubicki Jr., who was selected as Guttenberg’s Officer of the Month for December. Dubicki responded to a report of an armed robbery, leading to the arrest of two suspects.

The VA clinic in Toms River was officially renamed in honor of Bud Lomell, a local World War II hero. Lomell is known for working with local organizations to help other veterans after they came home from combat.
