In an effort to better track and identify foodborne outbreaks, Representative Josh Gottheimer has announced the Foodborne Illness Rapid Response Act. Under the legislation, no member of the CDC responsible for foodborne illness surveillance can be let go for up to a year after any outbreak.
Rebecca Schuman recently joined New Jersey’s Office of Public Integrity and Accountability, as a director of the corruption bureau. She replaces Jeffrey Manis, who was reassigned as the state’s deputy insurance fraud prosecutor.
A herd of goats recently helped clear invasive vegetation at Rahway Riverfront Park. The project, led by the Union County Utilities Authority, is a multi-year effort to restore native plants while improving the health of the Rahway River.
Officer Geter Benitez was greeted by local first responders as he was released from Monmouth Medical Center. Benitez was stabbed in the head during a domestic violence dispute.
