Former U.S. Senator Bob Menendez has reported to federal prison to begin serving an 11-year sentence for bribery. The New Jersey Democrat was convicted of accepting gold bars and cash while acting as an agent of Egypt. He’s now in custody at the Schuylkill Federal Correctional Institution in Pennsylvania and is expected to serve time in the facility’s minimum-security camp.
Police say a $3,000 mandolin stolen from the rock band Heart has been found. The group was performing at Hard Rock Atlantic City at the time. A guitar was also stolen and has since been recovered.
A 42-year-old Bayonne man is facing a charge of attempted murder, after he carjacked and tried to shoot a ride-share driver in Kearny. Police eventually located the suspect in North Arlington.
