Four members of the New York Giants visited North Bergen student-athletes for “Play 60”, an event that promotes healthy activity in partnership with the American Heart Association. The team also presented two checks of $10,000, to be put towards Rec football and High School athletics.

Rowan University has announced that Rally House, a leading retailer in collegiate sportswear, and eCampus will operate the school’s bookstore, starting in July. This means an expanded selection of Rowan-branded apparel and cheaper textbook options for students.

Lew Thurston, who served under six New Jersey governors during his 35-year career, has died. He was named Governor Thomas Kean’s first chief of staff in 1981 and became the chief operating officer of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority in 1983. Thurston was 89 years old.

Members of the Elizabeth Police Department rescued a bear, after it came down from a tree in a resident’s backyard. With the help of NJ Fish & Wildlife, the animal was safely relocated.
