28-year-old Jefferson Louis, of Newark, was sentenced to 50 years in prison for fatally shooting a man in Elizabeth four years ago. Police found the victim in his car at Jefferson Park, suffering from several bullet wounds. Louis was convicted in August.

Former Hamilton police officer Brian DiBiasi was found dead in Hopewell Township, from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The 40-year-old and his wife were arrested earlier this year, for allegedly recording child sexual abuse on video.

The Washington Township Public Schools music department produced a “Salute to Our Veterans” program at Tom Brown Field this past weekend. The event was led by the high school marching band and color guard.

Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell hosted its first-ever Leadership Symposium. They welcomed back 12 graduates who spoke about the qualities of leadership that have helped them in their own careers.
