For many nursing home residents, a small monthly allowance is their only source of spending money for everyday essentials and personal items. Advocates say New Jersey’s Personal Needs Allowance has not kept pace with rising costs, leaving many residents struggling to afford basic necessities and maintain a sense of independence.
