A major leadership appointment at Rutgers School of Nursing is bringing global research expertise to New Jersey, focused on improving the lives of cancer patients and survivors.
Dr. Leorey N. Saligan has been named the school’s inaugural Vice Dean of Research after nearly two decades as a senior investigator at the National Institutes of Health. With more than 30 years of nursing experience, his work has centered on understanding cancer-related fatigue and other symptoms that can deeply affect a patient’s quality of life, even long after treatment ends.
In this new role at Rutgers University, Dr. Saligan will help shape research priorities, mentor faculty, and expand collaborations aimed at advancing patient care and health outcomes both locally and globally.
Dr. Saligan joins us this morning to talk about his new position and the research that’s helping cancer survivors live better, healthier lives.
