Winning Streak Short-Lived As Brooklyn Nets Begin Another Losing Streak

By Jamie Rafael Mocling-Pan

The Brooklyn Nets had a very short two-game win streak that was immediately wiped out this past week, as they went on a six-game losing streak to continue their tanking season.

The Nets are far away from a playoff spot, and fans can hope the team can fall to a good spot by season’s end to grab a potential franchise player in the upcoming draft. The Nets have a 17-52 record and hold 13th place in the Eastern Conference.

Detroit Pistons Break Nets’ Losing Streak By Passing An L To Brooklyn

The Detroit Pistons snapped Brooklyn’s losing streak with a dominant 138 to 100 win. It was Jalen Duren’s 26 points and Cade Cunningham’s double-double of 21 points and 15 assists that brought back momentum to the Pistons, who were on a four-game losing streak prior to their victory over Brooklyn.

Duren was 90 percent from the field, shooting nine of ten, and Cunningham was 80 percent with eight of ten from the field.

The Nets were outpaced and outmatched by the second quarter, when Detroit had 35 points over Brooklyn’s 13. The Pistons continued to lead for the remainder of the game and prevented a Brooklyn comeback to win.

For Brooklyn, Michael Porter Jr. had 19 points, and Jalen Wilson had 14 points.

Ben Saraf was the highlight of the night for Brooklyn as he scored 10 points on six-of-six from the free-throw line and two-of-two from the field. While not a large performance by any means, it was good to see Saraf play well against a tough Detroit team.

Atlanta Flies High In Win Over Brooklyn Nets

The Atlanta Hawks extend their winning streak with a 108 to 97 win over the Brooklyn Nets. The Brooklyn Nets had no answers for the Hawks as Jalen Johnson had 21 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists to add to the hot winning streak for Atlanta.

Behind Johnson were Zaccharie Risacher with 19 points, Nickeil Alexander-Walker with 18 points, and CJ McCollum with 14 points.

The Nets did put up a fight and led by one at the beginning of the fourth quarter until a 10-to-0 scoring run by Atlanta put away chances of a win for Brooklyn.

For Brooklyn, Josh Minott scored a career-high 24 points, and the team was without their primary scorer, Porter Jr., who was out with a sprained ankle after the game against Detroit. Along with the 24 points, Minott had three steals and three blocks.

As bad as the loss was, Nets fans are elated over the tank. Nets’ head coach Jordi Fernandez has benched the team’s top guys, like Nic Claxton and Noah Clowney, showing that Brooklyn is no longer trying to win games. The losing streak continues, and the chances at a brighter future for Brooklyn continue to grow with each loss.

It was Quentin Grimes’ season high of 28 points that led the 76ers to their win over Brooklyn. Behind Grimes was Justin Edwards with 19 points.

Lack Of Star Power Doesn’t Faze Philly in Win Over The Nets

The Philadelphia 76ers got a win over the tanking Nets in a 104 to 97 loss for Brooklyn. Philadelphia was without a handful of guys, such as Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Kelly Oubre Jr. out with injuries. Even shorthanded, Philadelphia was able to find a way to grab a win and extend Brooklyn’s losing streak.

The Nets still put up a fight, taking back the lead after going down 53 to 31 in the first-half. Philly took back the lead in the final minutes of the game and pulled away to grab the win.

For the Nets, Danny Wolf had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Minott had 14 points.

While the highlight was the loss, it was a good game for Wolf, who posted a double-double. The Nets’ tanking woes continue on, and with about a little more than a dozen games left, fans can hope that Brooklyn can secure a top three pick by season’s end.

Portland Trail Blazers Extend Brooklyn’s Losing Streak

The Brooklyn Nets took a 114 to 95 loss against the Portland Trail Blazers to get their fourth straight loss. For Portland, Deni Avdija and Toumani Camara had 18 points each to lead the Trail Blazers to a win and add the fifth straight loss for Brooklyn.

Donovan Clingan had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Scoot Henderson had 16 points.

The Trail Blazers never gave up their lead, going up by as much as 31 points throughout the game. Brooklyn had no stops for Portland, who began the game with an offensive attack. The Trail Blazers could not be stopped, and Brooklyn had no shot against Portland to grab another loss.

For Brooklyn, Claxton had 12 points and 10 rebounds to get his 11th double-double of his career and 87th of his career to pass Sam Bowie for eighth-most in franchise history.

The loss was nothing new, but Saraf has been a great highlight for Brooklyn. His performance and consistency show that he is getting comfortable with NBA-level play.

Saraf moves the ball well and can initiate plays. The Nets can hope to get better production from Saraf with this season almost over, and see significant improvement in his second season.

Thunder Rest All-Star Gilgeous-Alexander, Still Grab Win Over Brooklyn

The Brooklyn Nets gave the Oklahoma City Thunder their 10th straight win in a 121 to 92 loss on Wednesday night. It was reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s 20 points that led the Thunder to victory.

Gilgeous-Alexander was sitting midway through the third quarter and ended by shooting 8-of-9 from the field. The Thunder rested their All-Star as they were leading by as much as 38 points by the time Gilgeous-Alexander was sat. Jared McCain had 26 points, and Aaron Wiggins had 17 points as well.

For Brooklyn, Wilson had 15 points, and Nolan Traore had 13 points.

With the win over Brooklyn, the Oklahoma City Thunder improved their road record to 25-8. The Thunder smoothly went through Brooklyn, as the Nets struggled to score in the first quarter with 20 percent from the field.

The Nets scored only 24 points in the first half, the second-fewest in NBA History behind the Phoenix Suns’ 22 in 2016.

What’s Next For The Nets?

The Nets are a team lacking much talent and are without their rookie sensation, Egor Demin, and their leading scorer, Michael Porter Jr. The Brooklyn Nets’ fans don’t have much more to look forward to with the season almost over.

The small bright spot has been Ben Saraf and his improvement as the season winds down. Fans can hope his improvement in his game carries into 2027 and helps Brooklyn take the first correct steps toward building a playoff-level team.
