High-Speed Internet for Newark Families
This morning, we’re taking a closer look at a major step forward for digital equity right here in New Jersey. A new partnership between Citizens Bank, Newark Fiber, and developer Adenah Bayoh is transforming access to high-speed internet for Newark families. At Bayoh’s latest housing development, Southside View, every resident will receive free high-speed internet for the next 15 years.
The initiative is powered through Newark Fiber, the city’s public-private broadband provider operated by Invest Newark, and represents one of the most ambitious commitments to digital access in the region. For many lower-income households, internet access is not just a convenience; it’s essential for work, school, healthcare, and staying connected. This partnership aims to close the digital divide in a meaningful and lasting way.
Joining us now is Aaron Meyerson, the City of Newark’s Chief Innovation Economy Officer and the Director of Broadband for Invest Newark and the Newark Alliance.
