Will Jalin Hyatt Have an Extended Stay in New York?
No one wants Jalin Hyatt to have an extended stay in New York more than Jalin Hyatt himself.
Entering his third season with Big Blue, Hyatt is looking forward to the “new year, new opportunities” that the 2025 season promises.
His NFL career started off strong. As a rookie, Hyatt posted 23 receptions for 373 yards despite losing quarterback Daniel Jones to injury and enduring the QB carousel that followed. But with the emergence of Malik Nabers in 2024, Hyatt’s production took a hit: just 8 receptions for 62 yards last season. Still, he’s not pointing fingers at anyone but himself.
“I felt like I could have done better. I had opportunities. I felt like I didn’t make the most of them,” Hyatt said when reflecting on his 2024 performance.
But out of adversity came a moment of clarity. Hyatt spent the offseason working on his technique, prioritizing strength and physicality especially for blocking and contested catches.
“I played around 171–172 pounds last year and played outside mostly. Didn’t really have a lot of slot reps,” he noted.
This season, however, Hyatt is up to 190 pounds and focusing on maintaining that weight while adjusting to how it impacts his speed and route-running particularly on deep and short routes.
Is Russell Wilson the Key to Hyatt’s Extended Stay?
Beyond his own development, another major factor could impact Hyatt’s future: Super Bowl-winning quarterback Russell Wilson. Since arriving in New York, Wilson’s presence has been undeniable. His leadership and experience are already making waves throughout the organization.
“A true pro, a true leader. He always calls me, texts me if he sees something he likes or doesn’t like. He’s so good at communicating with our receivers, tight ends, and running backs. You can just feel it — everybody’s confidence is higher,” Hyatt said.
With growing confidence and rising expectations, Hyatt knows what’s at stake: when the ball comes his way, it’s on him to make the play. Luckily, he’s entering a system and a locker room that’s setting him up to do just that. Wilson believes in him and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka has receivers moving around and maximizing individual strengths.
“It’s going to be fun this year,” Hyatt said as he wrapped up his press conference.
