Gotham FC has signed University of California goalkeeper and U.S. youth international Teagan Wy to a contract through the 2028 season, the club announced Friday.
Wy, 21, will join Gotham for preseason training in Sotogrande, Spain, as the club prepares for the inaugural FIFA Women’s Champions Cup in London, which will crown the first intercontinental women’s club champion.
“I’m so excited and thankful to be joining Gotham FC,” Wy said. “This opportunity means the world to me. The culture here and the passion from everyone involved really stood out, and I’m ready to learn, work hard every day and do whatever I can to help the team.”
Wy arrives after a four-year collegiate career at California, where she made 53 appearances and emerged as one of the most consistent goalkeepers in the ACC. During the 2025 season, she appeared in 19 matches and finished with 81 saves, tied for second most in the conference. Her average of 4.26 saves per match ranked third in the ACC.
As a junior in 2024, Wy earned Second Team All-ACC honors despite missing the opening portion of the season while competing with the United States at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. She posted a 6-3-0 record with one clean sheet, recorded 43 saves and produced a .782 save percentage. She tied her career high with nine saves against top-ranked North Carolina, the eventual national champion, and posted a .833 save percentage against Pepperdine in California’s first NCAA tournament win in 10 years.
Wy started all 19 matches as a sophomore in 2023 and was named Third Team All-Pac-12. She ranked second in the conference with 86 total saves and logged five solo clean sheets while recording 1,667 minutes in goal. She also earned Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll recognition. As a freshman in 2022, Wy appeared in five matches, allowing no goals.
“Teagan is an exciting young goalkeeper with extensive experience in the youth national team system,” said Yael Averbuch West, Gotham’s general manager and head of soccer operations. “We’re pleased to add her to our goalkeeping group and look forward to supporting her development.”
Wy has spent the past six years in the U.S. Youth National Team system, beginning at the U-14 level. She was the United States’ starting goalkeeper at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, appearing in every match as the team earned a bronze medal. Her tournament included a decisive penalty kick save in the quarterfinal against Germany that helped propel the Americans to the semifinals.
Wy was also invited to the U.S. Futures Camp in January 2025 and previously started for the United States at the 2018 CONCACAF Championship. She will wear No. 20 for Gotham as she begins her professional career.
