Joey Beyer recorded a double-double as Montville upset No. 16 Teaneck, 65-61, to win their first NJSIAA Boys Basketball North Jersey, Section 1, Group 3 Championship.

Beyer scored 20 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, and led four Mustangs in double-figure scoring.  Eddie Camaj, Chris Ferrare, and David Gonzalez were the other three Montville players to reach double-digit scoring numbers.  Ferrare finished with 15 points, Gonzalez recorded 11, and Camaj finished with 10.  Ferrare also finished his afternoon with five assists and three steals for the Mustangs.

Teaneck’s Aj Farrell drained four three-pointers on his way to leading all scorers with 25 points.  Jayden Robinson and Mickell Taylor, Jr. dropped an additional 11 and 12 points, respectively, for the Highwaymen.

With the win, Montville advances to take on Colonia on Wednesday in the Group 3 state semifinals at Elizabeth High School.
