Tammy Murphy To Run for Senate

Tammy Murphy is preparing to file for a US Senate campaign account this week. The New Jersey Globe reports New Jersey’s First Lady is expected to seek Bob Menendez’s seat and will begin raising money to test the waters. Reports say a formal announcement for the seat could come sometime in the next few weeks.

Rutgers & Other Schools To Launch Placenta Research Center

Rutgers is teaming up with other schools to launch a brand-new placenta research center, funded by the National Institute of Health. One of the main goals of their research is to detect problems with the placenta sooner, possibly saving lives of developing babies. Rutgers University, Tulane University, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Rochester will operate the center from the Rutgers Biomedical Health Sciences campus in Piscataway.

Dairy Queen Locations Violate Minimum Wage & Child Labor

The U.S. Department of Labor has ordered the operator of four New Jersey Dairy Queen franchises to forfeit nearly $24,000 after it found the locations violated minimum wage and child labor regulations. The violations impacted 23 minors across the four Dairy Queen locations. The investigation also found the franchisee owner did not pay 14 workers the required time-and-a-half overtime rate for those working more than 40 hours per week. The locations are in West Milford, Emerson, Belmar, and Rutherford.
