UNION — Kean University women’s soccer fell 6-0 to fourth-ranked Rowan University in NJAC play Saturday at Kean Alumni Stadium, as the Profs scored three times in the opening 15 minutes to take control of the match.

Bella Moore scored twice in the opening nine minutes before Angela Oliveto added another goal in the 15th minute to give Rowan an early three-goal advantage. Sara Wiedeman assisted on all three goals as the Profs put the Cougars under pressure from the start.

With Rowan building a comfortable lead early, Kean head coach Brian Doherty turned to his bench to give additional players minutes as the match progressed.

Rowan carried its 3-0 advantage into halftime after limiting Kean to one shot in the opening 45 minutes.

The Profs continued their scoring after the break, with Moore completing her hat trick in the 52nd minute off an assist from Oliveto. Cailey Bozinis extended the lead six minutes later, receiving a pass from Sydney Murphy to make it 5-0.

An own goal in the 72nd minute completed the scoring for Rowan, which maintained its unbeaten record with the victory.

Kean struggled to generate opportunities against the Profs, finishing with four shots, including three on target. Rowan recorded 31 shots, with 21 on target, and held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Goalkeeper Caitlin Murphy made 16 saves for Kean as Rowan continued to create chances throughout the match. Brooke Ginsberg added two saves during the final 25 minutes.

The loss dropped Kean to (6-8-1) overall and (1-5) in NJAC play. Rowan improved to (11-0) overall and (6-0) in conference competition.

Kean will return to the field Wednesday, Oct. 21, when it visits Montclair State for a 7 p.m. NJAC matchup. Rowan will host Stockton the same day at 6 p.m. as the Profs look to extend their unbeaten start to the season.
