Helping Newark

March 17, 2026

Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, but for many entrepreneurs, especially in urban communities, getting access to funding and support can be one of the biggest hurdles to success.

In fact, micro-businesses with fewer than 10 employees make up about 95% of all businesses, yet many are denied funding at more than twice the rate of larger companies. A new nonprofit called BrightStreet is working to change that by providing affordable capital, mentorship, and hands-on support for entrepreneurs who have historically been left out of traditional lending opportunities.

Joining us now is Rob Falzon, Co-Founder of BrightStreet.
