The family of a man who drowned at the beach in Wildwood Crest is suing the city. The lawsuit alleges that 21-year-old Joseph Volm was dragged into a rip current while lifeguards were on duty and that beachgoers were not warned of the dangerous conditions.

Officials are investigating, after a synagogue in Rutherford was completely destroyed in a fire. No injuries were reported. The synagogue was also the target of a firebombing investigation back in 2012.

Sergeant Brendan Gheen of the Ocean City Police Department was honored for his service in the United States Marine Corps.⁣ He received a Quilt from the Quilts of Valor Foundation, an organization that aims to provide comfort for veterans as they heal.

Monmouth County officials reached an agreement with the state to take over the property of the former Marlboro State Psychiatric Hospital. The 411 acres of land is located on Route 520.
