A Hawthorne man was arrested for sending pornographic messages to people online, between July and September of this year. The 43-year-old was charged with seven counts of cyber-harassment.

Authorities are investigating a house fire that killed two adult sisters who were trying to rescue their disabled father. It happened on Mosswood Avenue in Orange. The father and six others were able to make it out unharmed.

The Guttenberg Police Department remembers Officer Jesus Garcia, who recently passed away from Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Garcia served as commander of the department’s Honor Guard and was a member of the Special Response Team. He was 48 years old.

More than three dozen veterans visited Hooper Avenue Elementary School, for Take a Veteran to School Day. They spoke with students about their military experiences while answering questions. The event was supported through a grant from the Toms River Education Association.
