Former republican assemblyman Frank Gargiulo has passed away. Gargiulo served in the state legislature from 1985 to 1987, and spent 38 years a North Bergen commissioner, retiring in 2023. He was 87 years old.

On Halloween, Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank will host a screening of the 1999 horror flick, The Blair Witch Project. The event will include Q&A session with the movie’s stars, Heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams.

The arts non-profit Montclair Film has launched a Visionary Award and Visionary fund, in honor of Evelyn McGee Colbert, Stephen Colbert’s wife. The two have been staples in helping the arts community grow in Northern New Jersey.

Luddie Austin been named Grand Marshal for Trenton’s Fourth of July Parade. Austin has served as State Commander of the New Jersey VFW, as a police sergeant and as a member of the New Jersey Army National Guard.
