Senators Cory Booker and Andy Kim have introduced the End Warehouse Detention Act. This comes after federal government funding was spent on a facility in Roxbury to be turned into an ICE detention center.

Governor Mikie Sherrill and State Treasurer Aaron Binder were in Trenton to discuss New Jersey’s financial landscape and upcoming budget. Sherrill claims she will look to cut programs instead of raising taxes to save residents money.

Rider University alum and U.S. Coast Guard rescue swimmer Scott Ruskan was honored with the Legion of Merit during President Trump’s State of the Union address. Ruskan helped rescue 165 people from the Central Texas floods last summer.

Former Yankees pitcher and Alpine resident CC Sabathia will have his number 52 retired on September 26th. He played 11 seasons for the team, helping them to a World Series title in 2009. This will be the 24th number retired by the organization.
