Nutrition & Alzheimer’s

April 9, 2026

As our population ages, Alzheimer’s disease is becoming one of the most urgent public health challenges of our time, impacting families, caregivers, and the healthcare system at every level. Here in New Jersey, an estimated 220,000 people are currently living with Alzheimer’s, and that number is expected to grow as longevity increases.

Now, a major investment is helping advance research, treatment, and training right here in our state. The Rutgers Krieger Klein Alzheimer’s Research Center, part of Rutgers Brain Health Institute at Rutgers University, has received a $1.5 million gift to train the next generation of physician-scientists and expand innovation in diagnosing, monitoring, preventing, and treating Alzheimer’s and related dementias.

Joining us now is Dr. Michal Schnaider Beeri, Director of the Rutgers Krieger Klein Alzheimer’s Research Center.
