An unusual piece of technology is now playing a role in a high-profile missing persons investigation. Authorities searching for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie, are using a device known as a “signal sniffer.” The technology can detect signals from nearby electronic devices, including medical devices like pacemakers, and could potentially help investigators narrow down a location.

Joining us now to help explain how this technology works is Ann Liebschutz, Global Technology Expert and Attorney. Good morning.
